Moss & Co Consulting is partnering with an established Melbourne based multidisciplinary professional services firm on a rare chance for an accomplished Tax Lawyer to join its growing practice.

Bringing together Legal, Accounting and Private Business Advisory under one roof, the firm provides an integrated offering to private businesses, business owners and sophisticated clients.

This is not a traditional senior lawyer appointment.

The firm is looking for someone who can become an important part of the future of the business, bringing strong technical tax capability, commercial judgement and the ability to work across legal, accounting and broader advisory matters.

For the right person, the opportunity extends well beyond simply managing a file load.

The opportunity

Working across the firm’s Legal and Accounting teams, you will advise clients on complex tax and commercial matters while collaborating closely with accountants, lawyers and advisers across the broader business.

Importantly, you won’t be building from scratch.

The position currently has two CA-qualified direct reports, alongside support from the broader client team and a dedicated EA supporting the portfolio. You’ll step into an established setting with the infrastructure around you to focus on clients, leadership and the continued development of the practice.

Depending on your experience, you will have the chance to:

- Advise on complex taxation, structuring and commercial matters;
- Work closely with private businesses, business owners and high-value clients;
- Operate across both the Legal and Accounting sides of the practice;
- Lead and mentor experienced professionals;
- Develop deeper client relationships and identify broader advisory opportunities;




- Play a meaningful role in shaping and growing the firm’s tax capability; and
- Progress towards genuine equity and ownership within the broader business.

Who we’re looking for

We’re deliberately keeping the brief broad. You may currently be a Senior Associate, Special Counsel, Partner or senior Tax Lawyer, or you may have built your career within a multidisciplinary or professional services environment.

More important than your current title is the depth of your tax experience and what you’re looking to build next.

You’ll ideally bring:

- Admission as an Australian lawyer;
- Significant experience in taxation law and advisory;
- Strong technical capability across complex tax matters;
- Commercial confidence when advising sophisticated clients and business owners;
- The ability to work effectively alongside accounting and other advisory professionals;
- Leadership capability, or the ambition to step further into leadership; and
- A genuine interest in contributing to the growth of a practice over the long term.

There is already an established client base and broader advisory business for you to work with. A portable practice is not the defining requirement.
