Role: Assistant Tax Manager

The Assistant Tax Manager supports the Tax Manager across all areas of tax compliance, reporting, planning, and governance. This role plays a key part in ensuring SLB meets its statutory obligations while optimising tax outcomes, strengthening internal controls, and supporting business growth across the GeoMarket.
You will work closely with finance, operations, legal, and global tax teams, contributing to tax strategy execution and providing technical guidance to stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support tax provisions and tax reporting processes, including ETR report, FP8, FP6, and other internal reporting requirements.
- Develop procedures to improve compliance and reporting processes.
- Assist ATO (Australian Tax Office) audits and formal dispute reviews.
- Review intercompany agreements and supporting documentation.
- Support the GeoMarket on preparing transfer pricing documentation.
- Coordinate lodgement of income tax, GST, FBT, payroll tax,
and other statutory filings.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and assess impacts on business operations
- Assist with process improvements, tax governance enhancements, and digital tax initiatives.
- Support the Tax Manager with ad‑hoc projects and regional tax requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree/ tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Business Finance, Economics, Law or related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, CTA are highly regarded.
- 5 years of Australian public practice or corporate tax experience, ideally within a multinational organisation.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian taxation law and accounting standards
- Experience with tax reporting systems, ERP platforms (SAP) and tax technology tools is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, analyse complex tax issues, and communicate recommendations clearly.
- Experience in the energy, resources, engineering, or industrial sectors is beneficial but not essential.
