Help shape the next chapter of one of Canberra’s longest-standing community organisations.
Pegasus is seeking an experienced finance professional to join our skills-based Board as Treasurer and Director.
Founded in 1974, Pegasus provides therapeutic horse-facilitated programs and activities that develop abilities and enrich the lives of people living with disability across the ACT and surrounding NSW region. Pegasus operates from its 100-acre property at Holt and has been part of the Canberra community for more than 50 years.
This is an opportunity to use your financial expertise at Board level while making a meaningful contribution to an organisation with genuine community impact.
About the roleAs Treasurer, you will work closely with the Chair, fellow Directors and Pegasus leadership team to provide strategic financial oversight, advice and governance.
Importantly, this is a Board governance and strategic leadership role, not a volunteer bookkeeping or day-to-day finance position.
The Treasurer will support the Board in areas including:
- Financial strategy and long-term sustainability
- Oversight of annual and longer-term budgeting
- Financial performance and Board reporting
- Cashflow and treasury oversight
- Financial governance, compliance and transparency
- Audit engagement
- Supporting robust financial literacy and decision-making across the Board and organisation.
Who we are looking forWe would welcome expressions of interest from experienced finance professionals who can bring sound judgement, strategic thinking and financial expertise to the Board. You may currently be working, or have previously worked as a:
- CFO or senior finance executive
- Finance Director or Financial Controller
- Senior accountant or finance professional
- Commercial or corporate leader with significant financial governance experience
CPA or CA qualifications are highly regarded. Previous Board or not-for-profit experience would be valuable, but we also welcome experienced professionals looking to build or deepen their Board and community-sector governance experience.
We are particularly interested in someone who is collaborative, pragmatic and comfortable working alongside fellow Directors and management to strengthen financial sustainability and support good organisational decision-making.
