Experienced Cabinetmaker / Joiner
Commercial & Custom Joinery | Workshop Onsite Installation
Gold Coast | Full-Time | Immediate Start Available
Design Group is looking for experienced Cabinetmakers / Joiners to join our Gold Coast team.
We manufacture and install commercial and custom joinery, specialising in gaming room refurbishments for pubs, clubs and casinos.
This is a hands-on role offering a good mix of workshop manufacturing and onsite installation within an experienced and supportive team.
The Role
You'll be involved in a range of workshop and onsite tasks, including:
- Manufacturing commercial and custom joinery
- Reading and interpreting shop drawings
- Cabinet assembly and hardware fitting
- Cutting and processing panels
- Laminating and applying decorative finishes
- Mitring and general joinery work
- Operating panel saws, edgebanders and other workshop machinery
- Working with CNC-machined components
- Quality checking completed work
- Preparing projects for delivery and installation
- Setting out and installing joinery on site
- Scribing, levelling, fixing and finishing
- Working alongside other trades and clients on site
Some of our projects also involve curved laminating, shaped components and custom fabrication. Experience in these areas is useful but certainly not essential—we're happy to help the right person develop these skills.
Site & Away Work
Our projects take us throughout Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory, so some installations require our team to work away from home for short periods.
This can include regional and interstate projects,
with travel and accommodation organised as part of the job.
The majority of the role is based from our Gold Coast workshop; however, applicants need to be comfortable travelling and staying away from home when required for installation work.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced tradesperson with good practical cabinetmaking skills and a positive attitude.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Experience as a Cabinetmaker, Joiner or Shopfitter
- Good general cabinetmaking and joinery skills
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
- Experience with workshop machinery
- An understanding of cabinet construction and manufacturing methods
- Positive attention to detail
- Practical problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently when required
- A willingness to work as part of a team
- A professional attitude when working on client sites
- A current Australian driver's licence
- A White Card, or willingness to obtain one
- An ability to work away from home occasionally for regional and interstate installations when required
Onsite installation experience would be highly regarded, but we're also interested in experienced workshop cabinetmakers who are keen to develop their installation skills.
You don't need to have experience with gaming room joinery or every type of work we manufacture. If you have a good cabinetmaking background, a willingness to learn and take pride in your work, we'll help you become familiar with the way we do things.
About the Workshop
We have a well-equipped Gold Coast workshop with CNC machinery, panel saws, edgebanders and the equipment required to manufacture our projects in-house.
You'll be working alongside an experienced team, with a combination of established products and custom project work.
We value good people who demonstrate workmanship, reliability and who are willing to work together and help each other get the job done.
What We Offer
- Competitive remuneration based on experience
- Secure, full-time employment
- Immediate start available
- Overtime opportunities
- A supportive and experienced team
- A good workshop environment
- A mix of workshop and onsite work
- Regional and interstate installation work
- Travel and accommodation for away projects
- Opportunities to learn additional skills
- The chance to work on projects from manufacture through to final installation
Interested?
If you're an experienced Cabinetmaker, Joiner or Shopfitter looking for stable full-time work with a good team and a mix of workshop and onsite projects, we'd like to hear from you.
We're particularly interested in people who are reliable, take pride in their workmanship and enjoy being part of a team.
Apply directly with your resume to @gmail.com and tell us a little about your experience.
Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
