We are seeking an experienced CAD Draftsperson to support the design and delivery of technically complex building projects in Canberra.

This role is suited to someone with strong AutoCAD capability and, importantly, practical experience preparing drawings for electronic, electrical or ICT systems within built environments.

You will work closely with project managers, engineers, technicians and other building-services disciplines to produce accurate, coordinated and construction-ready documentation across the full project lifecycle.

The Role

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed technical documentation for building-based electronic systems, from initial design and tender documentation through construction, installation and final as-built drawings.

Your responsibilities will include

- Producing detailed CAD drawings including plans, layouts, schematics, cable routes, elevations, details and system block diagrams

- Preparing documentation for electronic and electrical systems installed within commercial and institutional buildings

- Developing drawing packages for tender, construction, installation, client approval, commissioning and as-built handover

- Reviewing and updating drawings to reflect design changes, site conditions and final installations

- Interpreting architectural drawings, electrical drawings, specifications and scopes of work

- Coordinating documentation with architectural, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, ICT and other building-services disciplines

- Identifying clashes, incomplete information and constructability issues before they reach site

- Working closely with engineers, project managers, technicians, estimators and subcontractors to ensure designs are practical and buildable





- Maintaining drawing registers, revision control and document-management standards

- Participating in design reviews and occasional site inspections to verify installation conditions and capture as-built information

What We're Looking For The key requirement for this position is experience drafting electronic or electrical systems within buildings.

You may have come from electrical, communications, ICT, building automation, controls, AV, fire, data, building services or another technically comparable environment. The specific industry is less significant than your understanding of how electronic systems are documented, coordinated and physically installed within buildings.

You will ideally bring

- Demonstrated professional experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software

- Experience preparing technical drawings for building-based electronic, electrical or ICT systems
- A good understanding of building plans, services coordination and construction documentation

- Experience producing layouts, schematics, cable routes, equipment locations and installation details

- Ability to interpret specifications, architectural drawings and electrical documentation

- Strong understanding of drawing revisions,



registers and document-control principles

- High attention to detail and accuracy

- Ability to manage multiple drawing packages and competing priorities

- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders

- Current Australian driver's licence

The original position description specifically requires demonstrated CAD experience and experience drafting building and services drawings.

Highly Regarded

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

- Revit, BIM or other 3D drafting environments

- Complex commercial, government or institutional building projects

- Electrical or electronic systems integration

- Construction-stage design coordination

- Site surveys and preparation of as-built documentation

- Formal qualifications in drafting, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related discipline

Clearance Requirement

Due to the nature of some projects, applicants must either:

hold a current Australian Government NV1 security clearance, or be eligible and willing to obtain NV1 clearance.

The underlying position requires the ability to maintain NV1 clearance.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on technical drafting position with exposure to significant, technically demanding building projects. You will work across the full documentation lifecycle rather than simply producing drawings in isolation, with direct involvement in design coordination, constructability, installation documentation and final handover.
