About the role

We are seeking a casual Research Assistant with a veterinary nursing background to provide oversight and support for translational and preclinical research programs. The role includes both day and night shifts and works within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

- Monitoring animal health, welfare and wellbeing.

- Assist with safe animal handling, health checks and routine husbandry.

- Undertake clinical observations and record and report changes.

- Assisting with procedures and responding to veterinary issues that arise.

- Preparing and maintaining equipment, treatment areas, medications and supplies in accordance with SOP's.

- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

- Ensuring compliance with ethics, SOPs, policies, procedures and legislative requirements.

About you

- Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent

- Previous experience working with large animals.





- A strong commitment to animal welfare and compliance with regulations.

- Good clinical judgement and practical problem-solving skills.

- Solid communication and teamwork skills.

- Availability to work casual shifts – both day and night shifts.
