Amaze is seeking an accomplished and values-led Board Chair to help shape the next chapter of one of Australia’s leading autism organisations.

For nearly 60 years, Amaze has worked to create a more autism-inclusive Australia by supporting Autistic people and their families, influencing systems and policy, and building the capability of workplaces, education providers and communities. While based in Victoria, the organisation’s reach is national. Amaze is home to Autism Connect – Australia’s first and only national autism helpline – which provides free, evidence-informed support to anyone in Australia.

This appointment offers an exceptional opportunity to lead the Board as Amaze develops its next strategy, strengthens its national influence and focuses strongly on innovation and philanthropy.

The Chair will provide inclusive leadership to the Board, support effective governance and collective decision-making, and maintain a constructive and appropriately bounded partnership with the Chief Executive Officer. They will lead oversight of Amaze’s strategy, organisational performance, impact, risk and financial sustainability,



while ensuring the voices and lived experience of Autistic people and families inform the organisation’s governance and direction. As a senior ambassador, the Chair will also strengthen Amaze’s relationships with governments, donors, corporate and philanthropic partners, sector organisations and the wider community.

Candidates will bring experience as a Chair, Deputy Chair or senior Non-Executive Director, ideally within a purpose-driven or not-for-profit organisation, together with sound governance judgement and strong communication, advocacy and stakeholder skills.

Lived experience and a robust understanding of autism are highly valued. The position is voluntary and involves six scheduled Board meetings each year, the Annual General Meeting, strategy activities and regular engagement with the CEO and Company Secretary.
