About Pool Palace

Pool Palace is an established and growing swimming pool service and retail business operating throughout Sydney.

We provide professional swimming pool and spa servicing, water testing, chemical treatment, equipment maintenance and technical support to residential and commercial customers.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Chemistry Technician to join our team.

This is a hands-on technical position based from our Bexley location, with work carried out across various customer sites throughout Sydney.

About the Role The Chemistry Technician will be responsible for swimming pool and spa water testing, analysis, chemical treatment and the investigation and correction of water-quality issues.

The role also involves assessing water-treatment and circulation equipment, maintaining technical service records, providing customers with water-treatment advice and supporting the training and development of other service technicians.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Collect swimming pool and spa water samples and conduct comprehensive testing and analysis to determine chemical composition, water balance, sanitation levels and overall water quality.
- Prepare materials, reagents and chemical-treatment products required for water testing and treatment activities, including measuring, mixing and handling chemicals in accordance with prescribed procedures and safety requirements.
- Compile and present water-testing data, treatment findings and corrective actions for internal records, customer reports and service documentation.
- Interpret water-testing results and determine appropriate chemical treatments and corrective actions to maintain protected and effective swimming pool and spa water conditions.




- Calculate, prepare and apply appropriate quantities of pool chemicals, including sanitising agents, pH adjusters, alkalinity and hardness treatments, stabilisers and other water-treatment products.
- Diagnose and investigate water-quality problems including algae growth, discolouration, cloudiness, scaling, staining, chemical imbalance and ineffective sanitation, and implement appropriate treatment programs.
- Inspect, test and assess swimming pool water-treatment and circulation equipment, including chlorinators, dosing systems, pumps, filters and associated equipment, to identify issues affecting water chemistry or treatment performance.
- Monitor the effectiveness of chemical treatments and make adjustments to treatment programs based on subsequent testing and analysis.
- Carry out specialised corrective water treatments including green-pool recovery, flocculation, sanitation and water-balancing procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of water-testing results, chemical treatments, quantities administered, equipment observations and work performed using company service-management systems.
- Provide customers with technical advice regarding pool and spa water chemistry, ongoing water-treatment requirements and appropriate operation of water-treatment equipment.




- Follow applicable workplace health and safety procedures when handling, transporting, storing and applying swimming pool chemicals and chemical-treatment products.
- Train, mentor and support service technicians in water testing, chemical dosing, treatment procedures, equipment operation and safe chemical handling.
- Assist management in developing technical procedures, training processes and service standards, and coordinate technicians to ensure consistent compliance with company and customer-service requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must have a relevant qualification in chemistry with proof of experience.

Skills Required

- Strong knowledge of swimming pool and spa water chemistry and water-treatment principles
- Ability to accurately conduct and interpret water-quality testing
- Ability to calculate chemical dosing and treatment requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of swimming pool filtration, sanitation and chemical-dosing systems
- Sound understanding of safe chemical handling, storage and application procedures
- Leadership, training and mentoring capabilities
- Ability to provide technical guidance and support to other service technicians
- Strong time-management and organisational skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to customers and team members
- Ability to work independently across multiple customer sites
- Proactive attitude with strong attention to detail
- Ability to maintain accurate technical and service records
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to contribute to the development of junior and future staff
