About This Role

Your new role

As a Senior Clinical Pharmacist Within QVAD Pharmacy, You Will Provide Senior Pharmacy Services And Expert Clinical Support To Health Practitioners And Patients Accessing VAD.

Working As Part Of a Highly Collaborative Interprofessional Team, You Will

- Deliver evidence-based clinical pharmacy and VAD services, including clinical assessment, intervention, medication reviews, dispensing and patient education.
- Provide clinical advice and increasingly independent clinical judgement in complex VAD cases, supporting authorised practitioners with medication management in accordance with best practice and the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2021 (Qld).
- Contribute to the development of clinical practices, policies, protocols, quality improvement initiatives and research that enhance VAD pharmacy services and patient care.
- Provide education, supervision and support to less experienced pharmacists, students and support staff, while collaborating with the statewide QVAD clinical team and broader multidisciplinary service.

About You You will be an experienced pharmacist who combines strong clinical capability with sound judgement, compassionate communication and a commitment to high-quality patient-centred care. You will bring:

- Demonstrated high-level knowledge, expertise and skill in delivering clinical pharmacy services to patients receiving VAD care within community, public or private healthcare settings.
- Registration as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (AHPRA) is required. Experience in VAD, palliative care, end-of-life care,



community services and/or Home Medicine Reviews or Residential Medication Management Reviews is highly desirable
- The ability to manage complex clinical workloads, rapidly prioritise competing demands and support effective patient management and discharge planning in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including the ability to supervise and support less experienced practitioners and students, together with experience initiating, planning and evaluating service improvement initiatives.

Queensland Voluntary Assisted Dying Support and Pharmacy Service Metro South Health hosts the Queensland Voluntary Assisted Dying Support Service (QVAD-Support) and the Queensland Voluntary Assisted Dying Pharmacy Service (QVAD-Pharmacy) on behalf of Queensland Health. Voluntary assisted dying services are co-designed in partnership Metro South Health, Community and Oral Health Services, and the Voluntary Assisted Dying Unit within Queensland Health. Services are delivered by clinical leaders specialising in pharmacy and end-of-life care, supporting the provision of safe, high-quality, and compassionate voluntary assisted dying processes.
