Your Employer
Agri Labour Australia is an established Australian workforce solutions provider supporting businesses across the agriculture sector. Its client base spans meat, pork, poultry, fruit, vegetables, tree nuts, cotton, grains and adjacent agriculture-related industries.
The business delivers more than transactional labour supply, bringing together workforce planning, operational capability and specialist expertise to develop large-scale workforce solutions for complex client environments.
Agri Labour Australia is entering its next stage of growth and is seeking an experienced Commercial Director to establish a clear strategy across sales, marketing, events and business development. This person will also identify new service offerings, strengthen major-client relationships and build capability within the commercial function.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Commercial Director will set and lead Agri Labour Australia's commercial strategy. You will create a structured approach to market, secure large, profitable long-term clients and develop new revenue opportunities while building the capability of the commercial team.
This is more than a sales role. You will provide leadership and mentorship across the function, establish strong commercial disciplines and bring together internal expertise to develop client solutions that are commercially sound and operationally deliverable.
Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Establish and execute the commercial strategy across sales, marketing, events and business development.
- Identify, pursue and secure large-scale clients capable of becoming profitable, long-term partnerships.
- Lead complex opportunities from initial engagement through commercial negotiation and contract execution.
- Develop new service offerings and market propositions that create additional revenue opportunities.
- Own the commercial architecture of major deals, including pricing, cost structures, margins and profitability.
- Lead, mentor and develop the commercial team, building capability and accountability.
- Strengthen strategic relationships with CEOs, boards, General Managers and senior operational stakeholders.
About You
You will be an experienced commercial leader with a strong record in service-based businesses and the business acumen to turn strategy into profitable growth.
There are three clear non-negotiables for this appointment: demonstrated experience personally securing and developing a significant client into a profitable, long-term partnership; proven leadership and mentoring capability; and strong commercial acumen with demonstrated sales success in a service industry.
To be considered for the role, you must be able to address the following criteria:
- Demonstrated success securing and growing a major client into a profitable, long-term partnership.
- Proven leadership and mentoring capability, with the ability to develop and bring out the best in others.
- Strong business and financial acumen with demonstrated sales success within a service-based industry.
- Experience developing and implementing a commercial strategy spanning sales, marketing, events and business development.
- Executive-level relationship management and complex commercial negotiation experience.
- Strong understanding of pricing, cost structures, margin and the commercial drivers of profitable growth.
- Experience identifying and developing new services, propositions or markets rather than relying solely on established offerings.
Experience within agriculture or another complex, regulated service environment will be well regarded, but the priority is commercial sophistication, executive relationship capability and the ability to understand Agri Labour Australia's operating model quickly.
The Benefits:
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a broad commercial mandate at an important stage in Agri Labour Australia's growth. Rather than simply inheriting an established sales plan, you will have scope to shape the commercial strategy and determine how the business approaches its markets, develops major clients and creates recent service offerings.
With responsibility spanning sales, marketing, events and account management, you will have considerable influence over Agri Labour Australia's commercial direction and future growth.
In addition to the scope and influence of the position, benefits include:
- $180,000–$220,000 per annum
- Car allowance
- Generous incentive structure
- Direct reporting relationship with the CEO
- Genuine ownership of commercial strategy and its implementation
