Location: Adelaide, on-site

Hours: Part time, 10 hours per week to start

About the Role The company is looking for a junior Community Manager to help build an active and engaged community around its games and projects.

This is not purely a social media role. You will spend time both online and out in the community, talking directly with players, families, schools and other groups, learning what they want from the company's games and creating opportunities for people to get involved while those projects are being developed.

The company is already creating organic interest through workshops, partnerships and community relationships. Your job will be to turn that interest into an active community across platforms such as Discord, Reddit and Facebook, while creating ways for people to play, test, discuss and contribute to the company's games.

You will work closely with the company's Business Development Manager and digital marketing support, helping turn community engagement into stronger relationships, better products and ultimately commercial growth.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and manage the company's online communities across platforms including Discord, Reddit and Facebook.
- Develop activities, conversations and content that encourage people to participate rather than simply follow.
- Attend workshops, events and community activities to speak directly with players, families and potential users.
- Build relationships with schools, community groups, families and other relevant audiences.
- Gather feedback from players and community members and share useful insights with the development and business teams.
- Create opportunities for community members to test and engage with games while they are being developed.
- Help coordinate playtesting, feedback sessions and community QA activities.
- Work with the Business Development Manager to develop messaging that supports workshops, partnerships and commercial conversations.
- Work alongside the company's digital marketing support to coordinate community activity and online communication.

- Identify highly engaged community members, advocates and potential ambassadors.
- Track community growth, participation, feedback and engagement.
- Help turn successful workshops, events and partnerships into longer term relationships with the company.

About You

This could be a great prospect for someone early in their career who understands gaming communities and enjoys talking to people.

You will ideally have

- Strong communication and people skills.
- A genuine interest in games and gaming communities.
- An understanding of platforms such as Discord, Reddit and Facebook.
- Confidence talking with people both online and face to face.
- The ability to understand an audience and communicate with them in the right way.
- Good writing skills and an instinct for what makes people want to participate in a community.
- Strong organisation and follow up skills.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn directly from players and users.

An interest in game QA, playtesting or game development would be particularly useful, as community testing and feedback will be an important way of involving people in the company's projects.

Previous professional community management experience would be useful, but for the right person, enthusiasm, communication skills and an understanding of games communities may be just as important.

What Success Looks Like

This role is about building a community that genuinely participates in the company's games and helps support the growth of the business.

Success could include

- Growth in active community members.
- Strong engagement across Discord, Reddit, Facebook and other relevant platforms.
- Increased participation in workshops, events, playtests and community activities.
- Useful player feedback being fed back into game development.
- Workshop participants becoming ongoing members of the community.
- Community activity generating leads, referrals or commercial opportunities.
- Stronger relationships with schools, families and community organisations.

As the community and the company's commercial activity grow, there may be opportunities for increased hours, responsibility and performance based bonuses.
