AVADA is seeking an experienced and hands-on Compliance Officer to support safe, consistent and compliant operations across Queensland, Current South Wales and Victoria.

Reporting to the State Manager and working closely with Operations, HSEQ and other business functions, this role will provide independent compliance and assurance oversight across our operational activities. You will conduct audits and site inspections, verify critical controls, monitor corrective actions and help ensure our operations continue to meet regulatory, client and internal requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys getting out into the field, working with operational teams and turning compliance requirements into practical improvements.

What you'll be doing

- Conduct scheduled, risk-based and targeted compliance audits across operational sites, depots and systems.
- Verify compliance with relevant legislation, traffic management requirements, permits, approved plans, safe work documentation and AVADA procedures.
- Review pre-job and on-site controls to ensure critical compliance requirements are being met.
- Verify worker licences, qualifications, competencies, inductions and relevant client approvals.
- Identify and document non-conformances and escalate significant or recurring compliance risks.
- Monitor corrective and preventive actions through to verified closure.
- Maintain accurate audit, compliance and corrective action registers.




- Analyse recurring findings and compliance trends to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Support preparation for client, regulator, accreditation and certification audits.
- Provide practical guidance and coaching to operational teams on compliance requirements and evidence standards.
- Prepare clear compliance reports covering audit activity, findings, overdue actions, risks and recommended priorities.

About you

You will bring experience in compliance, assurance, auditing, safety, quality or operational risk, ideally within traffic management, construction, transport, infrastructure or another high-risk, multi-site operational environment.

You'll also have

- Experience identifying non-conformances and managing corrective actions through to closure.
- An understanding of WHS obligations and operational compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to assess evidence objectively.
- Confidence working with frontline employees, supervisors and managers, as well as clients, auditors and regulators where required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands and exercise sound professional judgement.




- Confidence using Microsoft Office, document management systems and audit or operational systems.
- A current unrestricted driver's licence.
- A current Construction Induction Card (White Card

A Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety, Quality Auditing, Compliance, Risk Management, Traffic Management or a related discipline is preferred, although equivalent relevant experience will be considered. Lead Auditor/Internal Auditor qualifications, investigation training and knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 will be highly regarded.

The role

This is a combination of field and office-based work supporting operations across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. When you are in the office, you will be based in Virginia. Regular site and depot travel, including interstate travel, is required. Some early morning, evening, night or weekend work may also be necessary to observe operational activities and complete site audits.
