Cost Controller / Perth City Centre / Temporary / $67.00 - $68.00 Per Hour / National Engineering Business A leading national engineering business with sites across Australia is seeking a skilled Cost Controller temporarily. The main purpose of the Cost Controller will be to provide overall cost management, reporting and forecasting requirements for a specific project. This is a great chance to become part of a successful brand.

Cost Controller’s key duties will include:

- Prepare and submit monthly Value of Work Done (VOWD) reports to the client.
- Track variations and assess their cost impact against approved budgets.
- Ensure labour hours and other costs are allocated to the correct cost codes and CTRs.
- Monitor materials, plant, tooling and equipment expenditure against budget.
- Audit cost entries regularly and correct discrepancies.
- Review incoming invoices for accurate coding and purchase order matching, working with Accounts Payable to resolve queries.
- Reconcile timesheets with mobilisation records to maintain billing accuracy.
- Develop, update and communicate cost control procedures to support accurate and timely reporting.
- Forecast and analyse costs against work order requirements.




- Monitor project budgets and provide weekly commitment reports to the Commercial and Procurement Lead, highlighting emerging risks.
- Lead project cost allocation during month-end close, including invoice processing, accruals, cost transfers and aged accrual reviews. Analyse actual performance against plan, report variances and advise project leads on financial risks and corrective actions.

Key skills required:

- Minimum five years’ experience in project controls, including at least two years in a Cost Controller role within a commercial or operational setting.
- Proven ability to manage project costs and prepare accurate forecasts.
- Familiarity with financial management systems, with SAP experience highly regarded.
- Strong analytical skills, sound judgement and a persistent approach to resolving issues.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly with project and finance teams.
- A flexible, accountable approach, with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines under pressure.
