ABOUT THE ROLE
Stanley College is seeking an experienced Course Coordinator - Human Services to lead the effective, consistent and accredited delivery of Human Services courses across our campus-based and approved delivery modes.
Reporting to the Academic Program Manager, you will coordinate day-to-day course delivery, academic staff, assessment, student outcomes, academic records and continuous improvement. You will work closely with academic and central teams to ensure delivery meets approved curriculum, Community Work Australia (CWA) accreditation requirements and Stanley College academic standards.
This is a hands-on academic coordination role, with the opportunity to undertake teaching, assessment, moderation, student consultation and unit coordination when required to maintain quality and continuity.
The role may extend to Social Work courses as the discipline expands, subject to the successful candidate meeting the applicable professional qualification, AASW and accreditation requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate campus-based Human Services course delivery, including unit readiness, teaching coverage, learning resources, assessment schedules, academic calendars and delivery plans.
- Coordinate and support Unit Coordinators, lecturers and sessional staff, including academic induction, teaching expectations, workload completion, professional development and industry currency requirements.
- Undertake teaching, assessment, moderation, student consultation and unit coordination when required, including short-term teaching coverage to maintain delivery continuity.
- Coordinate assessment, marking, moderation and results readiness, ensuring academic standards, records and results are accurate, complete and submitted within required deadlines.
- Monitor student participation, achievement, progression and feedback, coordinate appropriate academic interventions and provide course-level academic advice and referrals through established support pathways.
- Manage complex academic enquiries, complaints and appeals within delegation, ensuring procedural fairness, appropriate records and timely escalation where required.
- Maintain consistency of curriculum, learning outcomes, assessment and academic standards across units, cohorts, campuses and approved delivery modes.
- Contribute to course monitoring, curriculum review, benchmarking and continuous improvement, using student, assessment and delivery data to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate delivery in accordance with current CWA accreditation requirements and, where applicable, Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS).
- Support authorised engagement with CWA, AASW, TEQSA and other relevant bodies, maintaining accurate evidence relating to staffing, qualifications, industry currency, unit allocations, resources, delivery and student outcomes.
- Identify and escalate academic, staffing, student, accreditation, safety and delivery risks, and coordinate agreed corrective actions with the Academic Program Manager and relevant teams.
- Maintain complete course records and provide accurate evidence and reporting for academic governance, audits, accreditation reviews, registration and quality assurance activities.
- Work collaboratively with the Fieldwork Placement Coordinator and Strategic Partnerships to ensure academic and operational placement requirements support approved course and accreditation requirements.
- Implement approved academic policies, governance decisions and course changes consistently while supporting a safe, inclusive, culturally responsive and respectful learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A relevant qualification in Community Work, Social Welfare, Human Services, Social Work or a closely related discipline, equivalent to or higher than the course being coordinated.
- At least three years' relevant industry experience in human or community services, consistent with Community Work Australia requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in higher education teaching, course or unit coordination, assessment and academic quality processes.
- Strong knowledge of Human Services education, contemporary professional practice and Community Work Australia accreditation requirements.
- Sound understanding of higher education curriculum, assessment, moderation, academic integrity, student support, AQF and the Higher Education Standards Framework.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate academic delivery, support teaching teams and maintain consistency across campuses and delivery modes.
- Strong analytical, organisational, communication, judgement, relationship management and documentation skills, with the ability to identify risks and implement practical improvements.
- Commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive, ethical and student-centred education.
- For future coordination or teaching within an accredited Social Work course, an AASW-accredited Social Work qualification and eligibility for AASW membership, together with applicable ASWEAS staffing requirements, will be required.
