Our bustling store needs an upbeat, customer-focused Deli Team Member to become the face of our delicatessen.If you love helping customers discover the perfect cheeses, premium meats, and gourmet olives while maintaining the high standards our community loves, we want to hear from you!
Roster & Availability
This is a casual position but requires total availability for our core weekly roster (22.5 hours total):
- Tuesdays: 11:00 am – 7:00 pm
- Fridays: 1:30 pm – 7:00 pm
- Saturdays: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
- Note: Occasional Sunday shifts and Public Holiday shifts may be required depending on business needs.
What You’ll Do
- Create Great Experiences: Welcome customers warmly, offer serving suggestions, and answer product queries
- Prep & Serve: Slice cold meats and cheeses to exact specifications using commercial slicers, and assemble fresh salads or grazing platters
- Merchandise: Keep our display cases fully stocked, beautifully front-faced, and accurately priced
- Manage Stock:
Maintain optimal freshness by rotating stock using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method, and track low inventory levels
- Handle Transactions: Weigh, pack, and label deli items accurately
- Maintain Safety: Clean and sanitise workstations throughout the day while strictly adhering to food safety guidelines
What You’ll Bring
- Physical Stamina: Comfort standing for long periods and safely lifting heavy stock or food supplies
- Great Communication: A friendly, clear attitude that thrives in a fast-paced retail setting
- Basic Math Skills: Confidence with numbers for weighing portions and processing transactions
- Reliability: Punctuality and commitment to your core rostered shifts
Bonus Points (But Not Required!)
- Previous experience working in a deli or supermarket
- Prior experience safely operating commercial meat slicers
- A current Food Handler’s Certification
