About the role
Tibii QLD is seeking reliable and experienced Casual Support Workers to provide Supported Independent Living (SIL) support for adults with complex and high support needs in the Redlands / Bayside area and also all other areas in Brisbane if needed. This role focuses on respectful, human-centred support at home and in the community, helping participants maintain predictable routines and achieve daily goals.
You will support individuals who may use limited verbal or non-verbal communication and who benefit from calm, consistent staff, visual supports, key word signs, and individualised planning. Duties may include personal care, meal and fluid support, assistance with daily living skills, communication support, community access, behaviour support in line with Positive Behaviour Support Plans, shift handovers, and accurate documentation. Some shifts may involve one-to-one or two-to-one support, and may include weekday, evening, weekend, public-holiday, active overnight and/or sleepover arrangements depending on participant needs.
The successful candidate will follow participant-specific Positive Behaviour Support Plans, mealtime-management plans, safety plans, and all Tibii policies and procedures. Casual pay is $42–$45 per hour (depending on experience, skills, availability and role requirements), with additional conditions including applicable casual loading, penalties, sleepover/active-night arrangements, and allowances (including vehicle reimbursement where applicable) in line with Tibii’s employment arrangements and the relevant industrial instrument.
This is a casual position. Shifts are offered based on participant needs, roster requirements, worker availability and demonstrated suitability for the service. There are no guaranteed minimum hours; however, regular shifts may be available for workers who demonstrate reliability, consistency, availability and a strong fit with participant needs and the team.
The service is in a period of planned transition. Successful applicants must be adaptable and committed to supporting continuity through planned changes to accommodation, staffing and roster arrangements.
Key responsibilities
- Provide respectful support with personal care, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, household tasks and daily routines,
promoting participant choice, control, dignity and independence.
- Prepare, present and supervise food and fluids strictly in accordance with each participant's current mealtime-management plan, texture-modified diet instructions, swallowing-safety requirements and food-safety procedures.
- Implement each participant's current Positive Behaviour Support Plan using proactive, least-restrictive, person-centred and trauma-informed approaches.
- Use low-arousal, predictable communication by explaining what is happening next, using visual or communication supports where required, allowing adequate processing time and avoiding unnecessary repetition or escalation.
- Learn and consistently use each participant's preferred communication methods, including visual supports, key word signs, gestures, cue cards, communication devices and other strategies.
- Build safe, respectful and trusting relationships with participants while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Complete accurate shift notes, progress notes, food and fluid records, sleep records, medication documentation where applicable, incident reports and other required records within required timeframes.
- Support participants safely in the community, including road safety, public transport, water safety, appointments, recreation and community activities, while following required staffing ratios and risk-management plans.
- Identify, respond to, document and escalate incidents, injuries, behaviours of concern, near misses, unauthorised restrictive-practice concerns and other safety risks in accordance with Tibii's incident-management procedures.
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, mandatory training, competency assessments, participant reviews and performance-development processes.

- Ability to follow participant-specific support plans, behaviour support plans, mealtime-management plans, safety plans and workplace procedures consistently.
