As the Early Careers Specialist for our award-winning law firm, Hamilton Locke, you’ll take ownership of our national early careers program, leading the end-to-end experience for clerks and graduates from attraction and recruitment through to onboarding, development and retention.
This is a newly shaped opportunity for someone who is passionate about early careers and wants to play a key role in building and evolving Hamilton Locke’s early careers strategy and programs. You’ll work closely with our Talent Acquisition, People and Learning & Organisational Development teams, as well as senior stakeholders across the firm, to attract and develop exceptional emerging talent.
With Hamilton Locke continuing to grow, you’ll have genuine ownership and influence, with the opportunity to strengthen our university partnerships, elevate our presence in the market and create an early careers experience that reflects who we are as a firm.
This is a full-time role and may be extended for a further 6–12 months for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and lead the delivery of Hamilton Locke’s national clerkship and graduate programs across Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne.
- Manage the end-to-end early careers lifecycle, including attraction, recruitment, selection, offers, onboarding, development and transition into permanent roles.
- Develop and implement Hamilton Locke’s early careers recruitment strategy in partnership with the Talent Acquisition and People teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with universities, careers teams, student societies and other key early careers stakeholders.
- Lead our on-campus presence and employer brand strategy, identifying opportunities to strengthen Hamilton Locke’s profile and attract high-calibre emerging talent.
- Partner with senior stakeholders and hiring teams to understand workforce requirements and ensure our early careers programs align with the firm's growth and talent needs.
- Design and continuously improve our early careers programs,
processes and candidate experience.
- Own communications and engagement with clerks and graduates throughout their journey, providing a high-quality and consistent experience.
- Partner with Learning & Organisational Development to shape and deliver our graduate training and development program.
- Provide guidance and support to clerks and graduates on matters including PLT, admission and their transition into their legal careers.
- Use data, market insights and participant feedback to measure program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Stay across emerging early careers trends and market practices, bringing new ideas and approaches to Hamilton Locke’s programs.
About You You’re an experienced early careers qualified who thrives on ownership, building relationships and creating exceptional experiences for emerging talent. You’re commercially minded, highly organised and comfortable operating with autonomy. You can move between strategic thinking and getting into the detail, and you’re confident influencing stakeholders and bringing people along with you.
You will have
- A qualification in HR, Human Resources Management or a related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in Early Careers, Talent Acquisition, HR or a related role, ideally within a professional services environment. Law industry experience will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience owning and delivering early careers or high-volume graduate recruitment programs end to end.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to build relationships with senior leaders, hiring managers, candidates and university partners.
- Experience developing and implementing recruitment,
attraction or early careers initiatives.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to understand business requirements and translate them into effective talent solutions.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple programs, stakeholders and competing priorities.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to challenge existing processes and identify better ways of working.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
