Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll lead the development and implementation of environmental programs and policies, working closely with project teams and stakeholders to promote sustainable practices, responsible land management and the protection of cultural heritage and the environment. Nacap is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to play a key in the delivery of a major wind farm project in Western Australia. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a landmark renewable energy project while driving strong environmental outcomes and sustainable project delivery.
This is a DIDO or FIFO opportunity based in Badgingarra, Western Australia, requiring a strong commitment to the project roster throughout the project lifecycle.
What you will do
You will lead all environmental management activities on the project, ensure compliance and directly influence decisions and drive positive outcomes through:
- Maintaining and implementing the Project Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Overseeing the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP), Erosion and Sediment Control Plans (ESCPs) and sub-plans
- Secure secondary approvals, licenses, permits and maintain compliance with all associated obligations
- Conducting and participating in site inspections, auditing and environmental monitoring to ensure compliance with regulatory and project requirements
- Monitoring and reporting on environmental performance, targets and KPIs
- Implementing environmental, community, First Nations and sustainability initiatives
- Engaging with local communities, indigenous groups, and stakeholders to promote the importance of environmental, land management and cultural heritage
· Undertake and implement Environmental and cultural heritage risk assessments
- Developing relevant training programs for management, supervisors and all project employees and subcontractors
- Deliver environmental training, Toolbox Talks and contribute to daily site communications
- Lead, mentor and support an environmental team
- Ensuring all site staff are aware of and meet their environmental and cultural heritage obligations
What you will bring?
You bring the following skills, experience and expertise;
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in environmental management within major civil or construction projects
- Strong experience in environmental management within construction and understanding of ISO 14001 and risk management
- Renewable energy infrastructure experience preferred
- Experience in Erosion and Sediment Control and having completed an accredited training course (CPESC accredited is preferred)
- Experience in Out of Hours Works (OOHW) approvals, noise monitoring and compliance
- Strong understanding of environmental and cultural heritage legislation, Best Practice Erosion and Sediment Control, land management and industry guidelines
- Experience in managing an Environmental team, environmental approvals, incidents, audits and reporting
- Experience in management of cultural heritage obligations and monitoring requirements
- Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with site teams,
regulators and stakeholders
- Experience in managing and mentoring teams of advisors and fostering a positive work environment.
- Managing budgets and finance, reporting, communicating issues and providing solutions to the leadership team, will be considered beneficial.
- Willingness to work on a fly-in/fly-out basis with an industry-standard work cycle on a DIDO or FIFO 19:9 or similar roster.
