Norton Gold Fields is one of Australia’s largest domestic gold producers, with OP & UG mining operations supporting two processing facilities in Western Australia’s world-class Kalgoorlie Goldfields region. Our vision is to be the leading gold producer, setting the industry benchmark in safety, teamwork, innovation, operational efficiency, and cost control.
Currently, we are progressing development plans, building our team and updating facilities and technology to enhance production efficiencies and grow the resource base across our broad 1000 km² tenement package.
Duties
Shared responsibility for geological field activities of staff, and contractors working on relevant drilling programs, including, but not limited to:
- Liaising with all leadership & stakeholders to conduct RD & Exploration (RC & DD) drilling programs, ensuring best practice and maintaining cost efficiency
- Advocating safety management values, fostering an open and supportive culture
- Managing drilling proposals, evolving exploration/resource concepts, whilst promoting technological innovation
- Support geological logging, mapping and target generation
- Oversee work area risk assessments, monitoring & inspections
- Making material decisions based on geological knowledge.
Awareness of environment and heritage, including, but not limited to:
- Environmental and heritage restrictions/guidelines
- Review & design of heritage survey areas and conducting new surveys
- Assess drill site clearing for minimal environmental impact and ease of rehabilitation
Process driven approach to data acquisition and geological interpretation, defining potential resources, including but not limited to:
- Resource definition through geological interpretation/increasing geological confidence
- Maintaining relevant QAQC principles and JORC requirements.
- Working autonomously with tasks completed to a consistent and high professional standard
- Support the department statutory tenement & technical reporting objectives
Skills and Experience:
- Relevant Geology degree (BSC+) from a recognised tertiary institution.
- 4+ years practical experience in the following is required; Resource definition (drilling), Exploration or Production mine geology
- Competent with demonstrated skills in spreadsheet, presentation, word processing and database applications.
- Competency using mining & geological software, such as Surpac, Datamine, Micromine, GIS and database management packages. Skill in one or more, desirable
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, engage teams to solve problems, and develop solutions. While earning respect through fair treatment of people, feedback, and mentoring of junior team members.
- Satisfactory GSDU / NPC clearance.
- Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable).
