As a vital member of our manufacturing Team and reporting to our Production Manager, you will lead a small Team in the production of precious and modern metal wedding, special occasion rings and jewellery. You will not necessarily have a background in the jewellery industry, but you will bring transferable expertise in small machining manufacturing/production, ideally using CNC lathes and 5 axis machines.
This newly introduced role will require you to:
- Lead and take accountability for your Teams performance
- Be a Team player and really good communicator with other departments
- Work to a common goal, provide the best quality products possible - on time, to our customers
- Understand, apply and embrace the principles of efficiency, effectiveness and productivity in what your department achieves
- Work closely with the Production Manager to reach and maintain a "continuous improvement" model, identifying and executing process enhancements to maximise BECKS quality standards and waste minimisation
- Learn skills and knowledge to adopt and allow a "hands on" approach to the departments production of wedding ring products
- Overseeing machinery maintenance to ensure downtime is minimised and peak performance is maintained
- Manage labour activities, leave approvals and overtime scheduling if required
- Nurture and mentor your Team through coaching, support, skills enhancement and performance management where required

Role and Responsibilities:
As a vital member of our team, you will report to the Wedding Ring Department Supervisor / Production Manager you will be required to work alongside your Team in:
- The manufacture of ring blanks
- The machining, detailing, and polishing of rings to a high level of productivity and efficiency
- The cleaning of finished rings
- Quality control of products
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, tidy condition
- Meeting due dates as specified on order tickets
- Assisting in other Departments as required
- Participate in regular stock takes within the department
Our manufacturing team works between Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must be confident working with small machinery, reliable, willing to learn, self-motivated, have good work ethics, a positive attitude and able to work in a team environment. You will demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude, and outside your Leadership accountabilities be responsible for carrying out a range of general production duties.
To excel in this role, you will need:
- Supervisory experience in a medium sized production/manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in the use of CNC machines, lathes, including maintenance/scheduling,
tool and consumables management
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, JIT principles and working with quality system (eg: ISO or similar) standards, systems, policies and procedures
- Exceptional eye for detail and exceptional manual dexterity/hand eye coordination
- A strong work ethic and reliability, with a very high level of pride in your work
- Ability to follow instructions
- Take initiative and have the drive to meet deadlines
- Mechanically minded
- Ability to learn new tasks and adapt to new technologies and/or processes
