To provide clinical care under supervision and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to practice as a subspecialist Clinical Toxicologist

About You

Fellowship activities

The Above Goals Are Accomplished By a Fellowship Experience Organized Around The Following Areas Of Clinical Training, Research Training And Teaching Opportunities

Clinical Training The fellow will work under the direct supervision of A/Prof Katherine Isoardi and other consultant clinical toxicologists in the clinical toxicology unit.

- Attend daily clinical toxicology ward rounds at Princess Alexandra Hospital
- Perform daily virtual ward rounds across Metro South HHS
- Assess new poisoned patients that present through the PAH Emergency Department.
- Provide phone consultation to peripheral hospitals calling for toxicology advice
- Follow-up Queensland cases referred to clinical toxicologists through the Poisons Centre

Research
- Participation in recruitment, consent and data collection for research projects currently in operation.
- Lead an observation research project in a poisoning chosen by the fellow with the assistance and supervision of A/Prof Isoardi. The fellow will be expected to present his/her findings at an academic meeting.

About Us

Princess Alexandra Hospital The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant. We are nationally recognised for our expertise in trauma management and organ transplants and are one of Australia's leading academic and research health centres.



The PAH as a major medical research precinct hosts Australia's most advanced medical research facility, the Translational Research Institute (TRI) as well as a new Clinical Research Facility for the discoveries made at TRI to be trialed in a secure clinical environment.

We're expanding our hospital to make sure everyone gets the care they need. We're adding more beds, modernising our buildings, and improving our spaces to treat kidney and cancer patients with all new services and facilities planned to open by 2027.
