Hands-on work in gold mining and exploration.
Emerald Resources is seeking a motivated and practical Field Technician to join our technical team and support the day-to-day field and geological activities at our operating gold mine.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, getting involved in a variety of tasks and being part of a busy mine site environment.
Working alongside experienced Geologists and other technical professionals, you'll gain practical experience across sampling, drilling support, field operations, exploration activities, data collection and site preparation.
No two days will necessarily be the same. You'll work closely with the Geology, Mining and Technical Services teams and play an important role in supporting safe and productive site operations.
About the Role
As a Field Technician, you'll work as part of the technical team and provide practical support across a range of field and exploration activities.
The role is predominantly field-based and involves working outdoors, operating and assisting with equipment, collecting samples and data, maintaining supplies and supporting drilling and exploration programs.
You'll receive on-the-job training and guidance from experienced members of the technical team, providing an opportunity to develop your practical skills and knowledge within the resources industry.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Sampling
· Assist with the collection and processing of geological samples, including RC and aircore drill samples.
· Assist with core cutting and other sampling activities as required.
· Ensure samples are collected, handled and recorded accurately.
· Carry out field sampling safely and in accordance with site, environmental and heritage requirements.
Field Operations
· Assist with the preparation and management of field work areas and drill sites.
· Assist with drill site preparation and rehabilitation activities, including loader operation where required.
· Coordinate and assist with day-to-day field activities.
· Maintain field equipment,
supplies and consumables.
· Conduct stocktakes and assist with ordering and maintaining adequate stock levels.
· Operate and assist with machinery and equipment as required and where appropriately trained.
Exploration Support
· Assist with regional exploration activities, including geochemical sampling and geophysical surveys.
· Provide practical support to Geologists and other technical personnel during exploration programs.
· Assist with the collection and recording of field data.
· Complete accurate data entry and maintain appropriate field records.
Camp & General Duties
· Assist with camp operations and general maintenance as required.
· Assist with refuelling generators and equipment.
· Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment.
· Undertake other field and site duties as required to support exploration and mining activities.
Safety
· Follow all Company safety procedures, policies and instructions.
· Maintain a strong focus on personal and team safety at all times.
· Work in accordance with environmental and heritage requirements.
· Contribute positively to Emerald Resources' safety culture.
About You
We're looking for someone who is practical, reliable and willing to get involved.
You may have previous experience in mining, exploration, drilling, field work, earthmoving or a similar environment, or you may be looking to take your first step into the resources industry.
You'll enjoy working outdoors and as part of a team, be comfortable with physical and practical work, and have a willingness to learn new skills.
You'll bring a positive attitude, good attention to detail and a strong commitment to working safely.
Qualifications
· Current C Class Driver's Licence.
· Relevant tickets or qualifications in machinery operation, such as loader or forklift, are desirable.
· Senior First Aid is desirable.
Experience & Skills
· Previous experience in mining, exploration, drilling, field work or a similar environment is desirable.
· Experience operating machinery such as loaders or forklifts is desirable.
· Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to work outdoors in a physically demanding environment.
· Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
· Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced team members.
· Proactive and positive approach to work.
· Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
· Commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace.

Additional Requirements
· Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.
· National Police Clearance (within 12 months).
· Current C Class Driver's Licence.
· Current unrestricted Australian working rights.
