About the Role

Join a well-established defence and engineering business in Melbourne as their next Finance Business Partner, on an initial 6-month contract. You'll get stuck into forecasting, performance tracking and financial planning for a designated part of the business, working closely with operational teams who aren't finance specialists themselves - translating numbers into decisions they can act on. You'll report to the Head of Finance and have real visibility over how the business unit performs.

- Format: Hybrid - 3 days in office each week
- Reporting line: Head of Finance
- Eligibility: Must be an Australian citizen; holding (or willing to obtain) Baseline clearance is a bonus

Key Responsibilities

- Partner closely with business leaders to inform key decisions
- Run the forecasting and financial planning cycle for the unit
- Spot financial and commercial risks before they become problems
- Ensure the business stays aligned with financial governance standards
- Continuously improve how financial performance is tracked and reported




- Help non-finance stakeholders understand and act on financial data

Ideal Candidate

- Background as a Finance Business Partner within professional/consulting services
- CPA/CA qualified (or equivalent), with meaningful experience since qualifying
- Comfortable influencing outcomes with teams outside of finance
- Strong commercial instincts - can connect the numbers to the bigger picture
- Hands-on with finance and accounting software
- Well-versed in financial controls, compliance and reporting standards
- Australian citizen; open to a Baseline clearance if not already held
