We’re working with a leading healthcare organisation that is looking for a Finance Manager to take ownership of its financial accounting and financial control function.
This is a senior finance leadership chance, sitting closely alongside the Financial Controller and operating almost as a Deputy Controller. You’ll lead a team of five across Financial Accounting and Trust Fund Accounting, while taking ownership of the organisation’s month-end, year-end and statutory reporting.
The opportunity
This role will suit a technically strong accountant who has experience operating in a complex organisation and, importantly, has been through periods of change and transformation.
You’ll be responsible for strengthening financial controls, improving processes and systems, and ensuring the financial accounting function continues to operate effectively through change.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of five across Financial Accounting and Trust Fund Accounting
- Own the month-end and year-end close processes
- Oversee statutory financial reporting and financial statement preparation
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet
- Provide technical accounting advice on complex accounting matters
- Oversee financial controls, reconciliations and compliance
- Lead audit processes and manage relationships with internal and external auditors
- Oversee fixed assets, leases, provisions and other key accounting areas
- Support cashflow forecasting and financial analysis
- Provide financial insights and advice to senior leadership
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and controls
- Lead the finance function through ongoing change and transformation
- Coach and develop the team, building capability and accountability
- Work closely with senior finance stakeholders on key financial and operational matters
About you We’re looking for a qualified accountant who combines strong technical financial accounting experience with the leadership capability to drive change.
You will ideally have
- CA or CPA qualification
- Significant financial accounting and financial control experience
- Experience leading and developing a finance team
- Proven experience taking a finance function through change, transformation or process improvement
- Strong month-end, year-end and statutory reporting experience
- Excellent understanding of financial controls and balance sheet integrity
- Experience working with complex accounting matters and senior stakeholders
- Big 4 experience would be highly regarded
- Oracle experience would be advantageous
- FP&A; experience would be a significant advantage
- An interest in using technology and AI tools such as Copilot to improve finance processes and efficiency
