A rare prospect has emerged for an appropriately qualified and experienced professional to oversee the financial operations of the business. Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with stakeholders across the whole business as a trusted internal business advisor, key responsibilities include:
- preparing and presenting accurate financial reports;
- developing and managing company budgets and forecasts;
- leading and managing a small finance team;
- preparing various daily, weekly and monthly reports as required by the MD and GM;
- liaising and working with the firm’s external accountant to assist in finalising tax returns;
- ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards;
- diagnosing/fixing software and IT issues;
- liaising with the external IT services provider and software provider;
- identifying and implementing improvements to business processes.

The successful candidate will be proactive, outcomes oriented and technologically savvy, with an analytical and pragmatic mindset and a focus on business improvement. Also important will be the ability to plan and prioritise workload, build positive working relationships with stakeholders and effectively lead, manage, motivate and develop the small finance team.
Warmth, empathy, resilience, good humour, integrity and credibility will also be required for success in the role. Private or family-owned business experience will be highly regarded but is not considered essential.
Required qualifications and experience
- CPA or CA qualification required;
- Minimum five years' experience in commercial finance roles;
- Demonstrated financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting experience;
- Experience partnering with senior operational leaders;
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills;
- Experience managing or developing finance team members;
- Commercial finance experience within retail or a comparable high-volume consumer business;
- Private or family-owned business experience will be highly regarded but is not considered essential.
