Our name, Dhina Durriti, reflects our commitment to walking together with community—strengthening culture, connection, and self-determination.

About the role
We are seeking a Finance Officer to join our team at Dhina Durriti Aboriginal Corporation in Kempsey, NSW. This is a part-time position offering flexibility whilst maintaining the crucial financial operations of our organisation.
As Finance
Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the financial management and administrative functions of the corporation, ensuring accurate record-keeping, compliance with financial regulations, and the smooth operation of our finance systems.
Your contribution will directly support our ability to deliver quality services to the communities we serve.
Key responsibilities
- Processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payments, with accuracy and attention to detail
- Maintaining comprehensive financial records and ensuring all documentation is properly filed and organised
- Reconciling bank statements and accounts to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies
- Preparing financial reports and statements as required by management and regulatory bodies
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including chasing outstanding payments where necessary
- Supporting the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses
- Ensuring compliance with financial policies, procedures, and relevant legislation
- Assisting with the audit process by providing required documentation and explanations
- Performing general administrative tasks to support the finance team and broader organisation
What we're looking for
Essential requirements
- A qualification in bookkeeping, accounting or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping, accounts administration or a similar finance role.
- Experience using Xero.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and payroll support.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to organise work, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Ability to work respectfully and effectively in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation.
Desirable experience
- Experience working in an ACCO, community organisation or not-for-profit organisation.
- Experience supporting grant-funded programs, budget monitoring, acquittals or audits.
- Knowledge of the SCHADS Award and payroll requirements.
