The role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Finance team at the Corporate Office in Highbury.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will play an important role in maintaining the integrity of our financial reporting and supporting the effective financial management of the organisation.
This is a broad and hands-on accounting role encompassing financial reporting, general ledger management, reconciliations, statutory compliance, aged care funding and end-of-month and year-end processes.
You will also provide financial insights and support to operational managers and contribute to improvements across our financial systems, processes and controls.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards
- Managing general ledger transactions, journals, bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Coordinating month-end and year-end processes and supporting the annual financial audit
- Assisting with ACFR preparation and other statutory and regulatory reporting requirements
- Monitoring aged care funding and maintaining accurate resident financial information
- Analysing financial performance and supporting budgeting, forecasting and operational decision-making
- Contributing to improvements in financial systems, processes and internal controls
- Provide support and guidance to accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions.
About you
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- CPA or CA qualification, or currently working towards accreditation
- Minimum five years' experience in a similar financial accounting role
- Strong financial accounting, reporting, reconciliation and analytical skills
- Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and statutory compliance requirements
- Knowledge of Aged Care Financial Reporting and financial requirements within the Australian Aged Care Sector
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using accounting software
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team
- Experience within aged care, healthcare or the not-for-profit sector will be highly regarded

- Current Aged Care Specific Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
