The Role

We’re seeking a suitably qualified Financial Controller to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. Reporting to our Chief Financial Officer, this is a hands-on role that combines ownership of month-end with genuine business partnering. You’ll spend a significant part of your time working directly with our Project Managers and Operations team, helping them understand their numbers and improve project and commercial performance.

Key responsibilities include:

- Partnering with Project Managers on project budgets, forecasts, committed costs, margins and cost-to- complete
- Identifying cost overruns and commercial risks early, and working with Operations on practical solutions
- Owning the month-end close and delivering accurate, timely management accounts, including preparing the consolidation and posting corporate accounting entries.
- Owning the P&L;, balance sheet and general ledger, including reconciliations
- Managing cost allocations across projects, divisions and business units
- Analysing performance against budget and forecast, and turning the numbers into clear actions for ExCo and Operations
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, year-end and audit preparation with the CFO
- Guiding our Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
- Improving financial processes and reporting, including practical use of automation and AI tools




- Other duties as requested by the Chief Financial Officer

The role is based in Bibra Lake, WA.

About You

This role will suit a hands-on, commercially minded accountant who enjoys getting out of the numbers and into the business, and who has the confidence to engage and constructively challenge Project Managers and senior leaders. You’ll work closely with, and be supported by, an experienced CFO.

You’ll also need:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CA or CPA qualified
- 5+ years’ experience across financial and management accounting, including owning month-end and the balance sheet
- Experience partnering with project or operational teams on cost control, forecasting and cost-to-complete
- Experience in a project-based engineering, mining services, construction or similar operational environment (highly regarded)
- Robust analytical mind with an aptitude for identifying efficiencies
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong Excel and accounting systems capability, and an interest in using automation and AI to improve how Finance works
