Passionate about hospitality and Australian wine? Looking for a role where you can develop both?
The National Wine Centre of Australia (NWC) is one of Adelaide’s leading hospitality and tourism venues and a celebration of Australian wine. Located in the vibrant East End of the CBD and surrounded by the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and parklands, the NWC brings together wine, food, tourism and events in a truly unique setting.
We're looking for an enthusiastic Food & Beverage Attendant with a genuine passion for wine to join our Wined Bar team.
This is a hands-on hospitality role with a strong focus on wine. Working closely with our Head Sommelier, Sommelier team and Wined Bar team, you’ll be involved in everything from everyday food and beverage service to wine recommendations, tastings, wine education and special events.
One day you might be delivering Wined Bar service, making coffee and helping guests choose a wine over lunch; another might see you hosting a wine tasting, assisting with a masterclass or wine dinner, or helping your teammates build their Australian wine knowledge.
It’s an ideal opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional with a passion for wine who is looking to develop their knowledge, gain greater exposure to wine service and take the next step in their career.
What you'll be doing
- Delivering friendly, professional and engaging food and beverage service
- Taking orders, running food and drinks, processing transactions and preparing quality coffee
- Engaging with guests and providing confident, personalised food and wine recommendations
- Delivering wine tastings and NWC tourism experiences
- Working alongside our Sommelier team to continually develop your Australian wine knowledge and service skills
- Assisting with masterclasses, wine dinners, functions and special events
- Helping drive wine sales through genuine guest engagement and knowledgeable recommendations
- Supporting wine promotions, flights and featured wine selections
- Assisting with the operation of our Enomatic wine dispensing machines
- Supporting the Sommelier team with wine stock, inventory, stocktakes and maintaining the wine offering
- Sharing your knowledge and helping build wine confidence across the wider Food & Beverage team
- Maintaining high standards of presentation, cleanliness and organisation
- Supporting your teammates and contributing to a positive and professional Wined Bar environment
What we're looking for
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- Previous experience in a restaurant, wine bar, cellar door, café, hotel or similar hospitality environment
- Strong food and beverage service skills and a willingness to be hands-on
- A genuine passion for Australian wine and hospitality
- A good foundation of wine knowledge and the confidence to continue developing it
- Curiosity and a desire to learn about Australian wine, regions, varieties and producers
- A natural ability to connect with guests and share your knowledge in an engaging and approachable way
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Coffee-making experience and the ability to consistently produce quality coffee
- A positive, collaborative attitude and the ability to work as part of a close team
- The ability to stay organised and deliver great service in a busy hospitality environment
- Flexibility to work across a seven-day operation, including day and evening shifts, weekends and public holidays
- A current RSA certificate valid in South Australia
Formal wine qualifications such as WSET are highly regarded, but they’re not essential. Just as important to us is practical hospitality experience, genuine enthusiasm for Australian wine and a willingness to continue learning.
Why join us?
This is a unique chance to combine hospitality and wine in one of Adelaide’s most distinctive food, wine and tourism environments.
You’ll work alongside experienced hospitality professionals and our Sommelier team, developing your wine knowledge while gaining practical experience across Wined Bar service, wine tastings, masterclasses, wine dinners, functions and special events.
For someone with a strong hospitality foundation and a genuine interest in wine, this role offers the opportunity to take on greater wine responsibilities as your knowledge, confidence and experience develop.
If you’re passionate about hospitality, curious about wine and enjoy creating memorable experiences for guests, we’d love to hear from you.
