About us

Football Tasmania (FT) is the not-for-profit peak body charged by Football Australia with the responsibility of growing, developing and promoting the sport of football (soccer) throughout Tasmania.

With more than 41,000 participants across the State, football is the State’s most played team sport.

We’re a small team with a big mission – to ensure Tasmanians live a healthy, enjoyable and connected life through football. We work with Tasmania’s 32 clubs and junior associations to ensure that everyone can get involved in football, from under-5s to our top-flight men’s and women’s competitions.

We administer competitions from under 13s right through to the National Premier Leagues (NPL) Tasmania and Women’s Super League (WSL). We also promote participation at all levels; develop talent; and work with clubs and associations to develop the sport and ensure they have the infrastructure they need to grow.

About you

- You’re a Marketing and Events professional with tertiary qualifications and at least five years’ experience in a similar role.

- You have extensive knowledge of - and a genuine passion for - marketing, social media and the digital landscape, including latest trends

- You have experience in Events Management

- You thrive on working in a small team and rolling up your sleeves to get the job done

- You don’t have to be a football (soccer) expert, but if you love our game, it would be an advantage

About the role (position criteria)

The General Manager Marketing and Events reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.



Ideally, the role will be based in Hobart.

It is a permanent, full time role for the right candidate. The key areas of responsibility are as follows:

- Events: Lead on key events for the organisation – season launch, end of season awards night, and Statewide Cup finalsfor the top-flight men’s and women’s leagues, including after hours and at weekends

- Stakeholder and External Partnerships: Drive key external and stakeholder partnerships for Football Tasmania, including with media, government, sponsors, community and community partners

- Media: Provide proactive and reactive media liaison for the organisation

- Social Media: Oversee the delivery of social media content across Football Tasmania’s existing platforms by the Social Media & Digital Marketing Specialist. Develop new platforms as required, to raise the organisation’s profile, drive engagement and share relevant information in a timely way.

- Traditional & Digital Marketing: Uphold brand guidelines and use physical and digital marketing to promote the organisation

- Promotion of flagship key competitions – National Premier Leagues (NPL) Tasmania and Women’s Super League (WSL): Promote the NPL and WSL competitions by delivering on agreed sponsor benefits and ensure the successful delivery of the competitions’ livestreaming, including Football Tasmania and club advertising
