About Kapooka Health Centre

Kapooka Health Centre & Clinic are approximately 10 minutes outside of Wagga Wagga within the Kapooka Military area located at Blamey Barracks. All soldiers in the Army complete Basic Training here, known as the “Home of the Soldier”. These health facilities support the Army Recruit Training Centre (ARTC). It has a 50-bed low dependency ward which operates 24/7. Services provided include primary medical, nursing, dental, mental health, pharmaceutical and physiotherapy.

Centre staff may be required to work across Wagga & Kapooka.



Standard hours of operation are generally 0700-1600 Monday to Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts).

This role is primarily Monday to Friday (day shift) within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. After-hours, weekend and on-call shifts may be required depending on role requirements and base location.

What You’ll Do

- Deliver high-quality primary care to Defence members

- Occupational Medicine environment, conducting fitness-for-duty assessments and pre/post-deployment care, in addition to injury management, chronic disease management and preventative health

- Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinical environment where patient wellness is paramount

What You Bring

- Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a General Practitioner

- FRACGP, FACRRM or Vocational Registration

- Minimum two years’ GP experience in the last five years in a GP Setting (GPT counts)

- Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)

- Australian Citizenship required (Baseline Security Clearance)

- Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient-centred care
