About the role The City of Swan is seeking an experienced and motivated person to join our Governance team on a fixed term full-time opportunity until March 2027, as a member of a busy Council Support team working to strict timelines, the Governance Officer will also provide a cohesive and customer focused executive and Council support to the City.
Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to;
- Provide high level customer focused administrative and governance support to Council decision-making in line with statutory provisions and business unit procedures.
- Identify areas of improvement in relation to the City’s governance responsibilities and work with key stakeholders to implement and communicate improvements.
- Lead and manage governance projects to completion as assigned by Manager Governance & Strategy, Council Support Manager and the Senior Governance Officer.
- As the Minutes Manager Administrator, actively promote the appropriate use and development of Minutes Manager; maintain and update Minutes Manager templates, auto text and procedural documents and ensure any changes are communicated to all stakeholders in a timely manner.
About you The successful candidate will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in related discipline or substantial experience in a governance role
- Sound knowledge of formal meeting procedures, agenda preparation and minute taking
- Experience interpreting legislation and applying governance principles in a practical environment
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a politically sensitive and confidential environment
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required
