The APS 5 Graphic Designer plays a key role at the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) at Old Parliament House, supporting the agency's mission to enhance the museum's brand visibility, attract diverse audiences, and deepen public engagement with Australian democracy.
This position sits within the Marketing & Communications team and works collaboratively across the organisation to deliver graphic design solutions that support strategic objectives, business unit priorities, and audience engagement outcomes. The role is responsible for independently managing and delivering a broad range of design projects, from concept development through to final production, across both print and digital channels.
The Graphic Designer provides significant support across the organisation and works closely with a diverse range of business areas. Through this cross-organisational collaboration, the role contributes to consistent and effective visual communication across all aspects of the museum's operations and public-facing activities.
Reporting to the Senior Marketing Coordinator, the position requires strong stakeholder engagement skills, sound judgement, initiative, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
Under broad direction of the Senior Marketing Coordinator, the APS5 Graphic Designer will:
- Lead and deliver end-to-end design projects, managing the full creative process from concept development through to production and implementation across print and digital platforms.
- Develop high-quality design solutions that support organisational priorities, audience engagement objectives, marketing activities, exhibitions,
programs and operational requirements.
- Work collaboratively across the agency, providing professional design advice and recommendations to stakeholders, translating business needs into effective visual communication outcomes.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities, exercising sound judgement to meet deadlines and ensure the delivery of high-quality results.
- Apply and uphold MoAD’s brand, style and accessibility standards, ensuring consistency and quality across all visual communications.
- Coordinate production and delivery of design assets, including preparing artwork, managing suppliers and maintaining quality assurance processes.
- Maintain effective design systems and asset management practices, including version control, digital file management and the development of templates and reusable resources.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance design processes, service delivery and organisational visual communication.
To be eligible for this position at MoAD, applicants must:
- be an Australian Citizen; and
- have a security clearance or be willing to undertake the process to obtain a baseline clearance (after commencement)
- be willing to provide identity documents and undergo an identity pre-employment check through a Document Verification Service, if you are deemed to be the successful candidate.
