Head of Finance | Mechanical Installation & Fabrication

Lead TFG’s finance function and help shape the financial governance, discipline and decision-making in a rapidly growing SME.

About the role

TFG is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to take ownership of our finance function and play an important role in the next stage of our growth. We are a rapidly growing national mechanical installation and fabrication company, delivering projects across industries such as data centres, wastewater and other complex industrial sectors.

Based at our Welshpool office and reporting directly to the General Manager, you’ll be a member of the Senior Management Team and a key financial adviser to the business.

The ideal candidate is someone who not only reports the numbers but also confidently understands what they mean, can identify risks and opportunities, and can provide clear recommendations that help us make better business decisions. You’ll lead a small finance team and oversee the financial processes that keep the business running effectively - from budgeting, forecasting and cashflow through to management reporting, compliance and financial controls.

A major focus will be continuing to strengthen our financial governance, including policies, delegations, approval processes, controls and reporting disciplines.

The role combines strategic influence with hands-on finance leadership. You’ll be expected to stay close to the detail, know what is happening across the function, delegate effectively and step in when needed.



This role comes with a work vehicle, fuel card, laptop and phone.

About you

What we’re looking for;

- CA or CPA qualification

- At least five years’ experience in a comparable senior finance role with responsibility for the financial oversight of a business

- Experience establishing, managing or improving financial governance, controls and finance processes

- Sound commercial judgement and the ability to turn financial and operational information into clear recommendations

- Experience across budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and month-end financial processes

- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills

- Strong organisational skills, follow-through and attention to detail

- Intermediate to advanced computer capability and confidence with finance and reporting systems

- Experience within manufacturing, construction, engineering or another project-based environment would be advantageous, but isn’t essential.

You will suit this role if you are comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, take ownership of your function and are able to balance financial discipline with the realities of a fast-growing business.
