HR Advisor – Part-Time | Western Sydney
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to provide hands-on, day-to-day HR support to an established engineering business of approximately 150 employees based in Western Sydney.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of the operational HR function, working closely with managers and employees to provide practical advice and support across the employee lifecycle. The role will suit an experienced HR professional who enjoys being hands-on, building strong relationships and providing practical solutions in a fast-paced business environment.
You will be supported by external IR and employment law specialists for complex or higher-risk matters, allowing you to focus on practical, day-to-day HR delivery.
About the Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the primary day-to-day HR contact for managers and employees.
- Providing practical advice and support on general HR and employee matters.
- Supporting managers with performance, conduct, attendance and employee relations matters.
- Managing HR administration, documentation, policies and processes.
- Preparing employment letters, contracts, position descriptions and other HR documentation.
- Supporting recruitment, including job advertisements, candidate screening, interviews and reference checks.
- Coordinating onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Supporting compliance with Australian employment legislation and relevant Modern Awards.
- Maintaining accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Assisting with HR projects, policy reviews and process improvements.
- Identifying and escalating complex ER/IR matters where specialist advice is required.
- Providing general HR guidance and support to managers and employees as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Previous experience as an HR Advisor, HR Generalist or similar role.
- Strong practical knowledge of Australian HR practices and employment legislation.
- Experience across employee relations, HR administration and recruitment.
- Confidence providing first-level HR advice to managers and employees.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- A practical, solutions-focused and approachable style.
- Sound judgement when handling sensitive and confidential matters.
- Experience working in a standalone, outsourced or client-facing HR environment will be highly regarded.
The Opportunity
- Part-time HR Advisor prospect
- The initial hours for this role will be approximately 20 hours per week, with some onsite presence required each week
- Coverage across 4 - 5 days is preferred, although there is flexibility in how the hours are structured e.g. 1 or 2 full / half days onsite each week, with the remainder of the hours being performed remotely.
- Located in Western Sydney
- Work closely with managers and employees as the key day-to-day HR contact
- Specialist IR/employment law support available for complex matters
