Services Australia ICT supports large, complex digital services used by the Australian community, including services that support Medicare, Centrelink, Child Support and aged care. Our project managers work with business areas, technology specialists, vendors and delivery partners to help technology changes move from planning through to implementation, transition and closure. What we do

Technology and Digital Programs (TDP) delivers and supports the digital services, applications, platforms and technology infrastructure that enable Australians to access essential government services. Our work supports programs including Centrelink, Medicare, Child Support and Aged Care, helping millions of Australians access payments, healthcare, aged care and other government services when they need them most.

Working across some of the largest and most complex ICT environments in Australia, we design, build, integrate,



secure and operate critical technology solutions that support service delivery nationwide. From software development and cloud technologies through to cyber security, data, infrastructure and technology transformation, our teams play a vital role in delivering secure, reliable and modern digital government services.

About the Role

ICT Project Managers plan, organise, direct, control and coordinate the delivery of ICT projects across the full project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, implementation, transition and closure. They apply project management frameworks, identify and manage risks and undertake quality assurance activities to support successful project delivery. They also support the selection, implementation and integration of technology solutions into ICT projects.

- Deliver ICT project outcomes by managing scope, schedule, resourcing, budget and quality using established project delivery approaches.
- Develop and maintain practical project artefacts such as plans, schedules, reports, decision records and closure documentation.
- Coordinate project resources, activities and task allocation so milestones and deliverables are clear and achievable.
- Identify, assess and manage risks, issues, decisions, dependencies and benefits, escalating matters when required.
- Work with ICT specialists, business areas and vendors to manage delivery sequencing, testing, change, release and implementation activities.
- Apply project governance, reporting, quality assurance and change control processes to support oversight and decision-making.




- Represent project delivery at governance forums and provide clear status updates, options and advice.
- Lead and support team members by coaching, building capability, managing performance and supporting wellbeing.

- Some positions may require a security clearance. This will be identified for each vacancy.
- Roles are expected to uphold the APS Values and Code of Conduct, and follow relevant privacy, security, workplace health and safety, and inclusion requirements.

In accordance with section 22(6) of the Public Service Act 1999, Services Australia requires applicants to be Australian citizens to be eligible for employment with Services Australia.

An applicant’s suitability for employment with the agency will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes but is not limited to a national police history check, referee checks, code of conduct check and an employment history integrity check.

Some positions within Services Australia may be required to work in settings where mandatory vaccinations are required. Staff in such positions will need to demonstrate that they meet the vaccination requirements or have a relevant exemption.

Highly desirable criteria

- Minimum three years' experience working in an ICT project management environment.
- Relevant project management qualifications, such as a Diploma in Project Management or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex, highly integrated ICT projects at scale.

Services Australia’s workforce operates using an agile approach, and all staff should be prepared to redeploy to critical frontline functions as required.
