ABOUT THE ROLES The IPSC is an independent workplace investigation framework for Commonwealth parliamentary workplace participants established under the Parliamentary Workplace Support Service Act 2023. The IPSC investigates suspected breaches of;

- Behaviour Code for staff employed under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 (MOP(S) Act)

The IPSC was established as a key recommendation of the Australian Human Rights Commission's Set the Standard review to help promote safe, respectful and accountable parliamentary workplaces.

The IPSC consists of a minimum of seven, and up to nine, Commissioners including a Chair Commissioner and staff to assist the Commissioners. It is part of the Parliamentary Workplace Support Service (PWSS) but has independence in performing its investigation function. There are currently two vacant Commissioner roles.

The IPSC is intended to complement a range of reforms to make Commonwealth parliamentary workplaces safe and respectful.
