Japanese Chef / Cook – %ΔRΔBICΔ ΔUSTRΔLIΔ | Bondi Beach

Full-time | $75,000-$85,000 + superannuation

%ΔRΔBICΔ ΔUSTRΔLIΔ is preparing to open its first Australian flagship store at Bondi Beach, and we are looking for an experienced Japanese Chef / Cook to join the opening team.

This is a hands-on kitchen role for someone with genuine experience preparing Japanese food and a strong understanding of quality, consistency, presentation and kitchen discipline.

You will work closely with the Australian operations team and % Arabica's international team to help establish and maintain the food program at Bondi Beach.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and cook Japanese dishes to agreed recipes and standards
- Maintain consistent quality, presentation and portion control
- Complete daily food preparation and mise en place
- Support efficient kitchen workflow during service
- Manage stock rotation, storage and wastage
- Maintain high food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards
- Assist with ordering and kitchen organisation
- Support the training and development of other kitchen team members
- Help implement new recipes, menu items and operating procedures
- Work closely with the wider store team to deliver a high-quality customer experience

What we are looking for

- Professional Japanese cooking experience is required




- Commercial kitchen experience
- Solid knowledge of Japanese ingredients, flavours and preparation methods
- Strong food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
- High attention to detail and presentation
- Reliable, organised and team-focused
- Valid Australian working rights

Highly regarded

- Experience with Obanzai cuisine
- Knowledge of Kyoto cuisine or traditional Kyoto-style cooking
- Experience working in Japanese restaurants or Japanese hospitality concepts
- Experience with Japanese menu development or recipe implementation
- Experience training junior kitchen staff
- Japanese language skills

Japanese language ability is not essential, but would be an advantage when working with our international team. The Bondi Beach store will combine % Arabica's internationally recognised coffee program with a Japanese food offering. We are particularly interested in people who understand the simplicity, balance and ingredient-led approach associated with Japanese and Kyoto food culture.
