Key responsibilities
- Create accurate scopes of work from building plans and specifications
- Prepare accurate material and labour cost estimates for projects of varying scope and complexities
- Review project specifications, drawings and site conditions to accurately inform the estimation process
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes and negotiate pricing for materials and services
- Maintain and update cost databases and estimation templates
- Build and maintain BOQ's (Bill of quantities)
- Build and maintain pricing schedules for both trades and suppliers
- Communicate with clients, subcontractors and internal teams regarding project details and variations
- Enter and maintain project information using computer software
- Present project handover information to the internal operations team
About you
- Robust organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Excellent communication skills, with clear and professional communication being essential to the position
- Strong numeracy skills, with a high level of accuracy in calculations, data entry and pricing
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities while working effectively in a fast-paced environment
- A willingness to learn and develop your estimating and construction knowledge, with the ability to take direction and work collaboratively as part of a team
- Current White Card
- Current unrestricted SA Drivers Licence
- Completion of Cert 4 In Building Project Support (estimating) is desirable
- Previous experience in estimating, administration, construction or a related position would be preferred
- Basic knowledge of construction practices, materials and associated costs would be highly advantageous
