Due to continued growth, Oroya Labs is looking for motivated and experienced Laboratory Technicians to join our onsite team in Charters Towers.
This is an opportunity to join a small, high-performing team supporting mining and processing operations through accurate and timely analytical results.
We have multiple positions and employment options available, including permanent and casual opportunities. A range of roster options may be available depending on the position and candidate.
The roles are Drive In/Drive Out to Charters Towers, with candidates from Townsville, Cairns and surrounding areas encouraged to apply. Comfortable onsite accommodation is provided while on site.

About the Role:
You will carry out a variety of laboratory tasks, from sample preparation through to routine and specialised testing, ensuring analytical results are delivered accurately and on time.
You will work closely with the processing and mining teams to identify and resolve sample quality issues and support the reliable operation of the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work independently, managing your time and tasks to ensure safe, accurate and efficient laboratory operations.
- Conduct sample preparation,
including drying, crushing, riffle splitting, pulverising, wet and dry screening, Pulverise and Leach (PAL), and classical wet chemistry techniques.
- Operate and maintain analytical instruments, including atomic absorption spectrometers (AAS).
- Collaborate with processing and mining teams to identify and resolve sample quality issues.
- Safely handle hazardous chemicals and complete risk assessments in accordance with site and laboratory procedures.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and use Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting.
- Monitor and manage laboratory consumables and stock levels.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe laboratory setting.
Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience in a mining or mineral processing laboratory.
- Experience in gold analysis, with PAL and AAS experience highly regarded.
- Experience in sample preparation, including drying, crushing and splitting.
- Experience working independently with a high degree of autonomy.
Role Requirements:
- Proven experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Relevant laboratory qualifications or equivalent practical experience.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Ability to undertake and pass a pre-employment medical.
- Ability to provide a valid National Police Clearance issued within the last 12 months.
- Current Australian C Class Driver's Licence.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
