About the Company
Founded in 2008, OTOC Australia is a specialist remote-area infrastructure contractor delivering a wide range of non-process infrastructure, including mine site accommodation camps and villages, modular buildings, steel-framed workshops, fuel and lubrication storage and distribution, washdown bays and associated facilities.
From planning and approvals through to turnkey design-and-construct delivery, OTOC has successfully executed large and complex NPI projects for many of Australia’s leading mining and resources companies, often in the country’s most remote and challenging environments.
Leveraging our highly transferrable skills and experience, we have also delivered projects for state and federal government agencies, major infrastructure and utilities providers, as well as international clients.
About the Role
OTOC is seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to lead the pricing of non-process infrastructure facilities for resources projects across Australia. Using first-principles estimation, you'll take ownership of tender strategy from opportunity through to submission — preparing implementation plans, tender schedules, attending site visits, and building robust, auditable cost models in collaboration with subcontractors and internal stakeholders to meet client’s requirements.
This is a senior, client-facing role with genuine leadership scope: you'll collaborate with HSEQ and operational personnel,
act as a key escalation point across the estimating function and help shape how the business prices and wins work to meet organisational targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Own timely completion of tenders and budget estimate submissions
- Lead interaction with the operations team for review of work methodologies
- Manage the tender estimate system, ensuring models are robust and consistently applied
- Lead and participate in tender site visits, including client-facing presentations
- Review and quality-check estimates with the management team
- Lead preparation and review of tender clarifications
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
- Contribute to estimating strategy, benchmarking and continuous improvement processes
About You — Essential
- 15+ years’ experience estimating NPI scopes including delivering work as a contractor
- Demonstrated experience presenting estimates, including review and sign-off
- Demonstrated track record delivering tender submissions in a timely manner
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook (+Primavera desirable)
- Strong business acumen, negotiation skills, and stakeholder management ability
- Solid interpersonal and team collaboration skills
- Qualification in quantity surveying, building or engineering (desirable)
