The Chance

Join the City of Perth Library as a Library Technical Officer, where you will play a key role in supporting and maintaining the library’s technology systems and digital services. This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of library hardware and software, including public computers, printing, copying and scanning services, audio-visual equipment, and mobile duress systems.

Working closely with the Team Leader Technical Services, you will assist in troubleshooting and supporting the integrated library management system and digital resources. You will also provide guidance and training to library staff, respond to customer technology enquiries, and contribute to the delivery of digital literacy initiatives that enhance the community’s access to information and technology.

Reporting to the Technical Services Team Leader at our City of Perth Library, your key responsibilities will include:

- Maintain and support the library’s technology infrastructure, including RFID equipment, public computers, digital signage, mobile duress systems, and audio-visual equipment.
- Administer and troubleshoot library-specific software and applications, ensuring reliable and effective service delivery.
- Provide technical support to library customers, resolving issues relating to printing, scanning,



copying, and other digital services.
- Deliver training and ongoing support to library staff on corporate and library technologies through both formal training sessions and one-on-one assistance.
- Contribute to a seamless customer experience by ensuring library technology systems remain operational, accessible, and user-friendly.

About You To succeed in this role, you will possess:

- Proven problem-solving abilities and the initiative to independently resolve technical issues in a customer-focused environment.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting PCs, multi-function devices and customer-facing printing, copying, and scanning services.
- Experience working with vendors to support an IT environment.
- Strong technical capability across a broad range of hardware and software, including Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and provide effective training and support to staff and library customers with varying levels of digital literacy.
