About the role
Axis Hire is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Planner to join our operations team in Bunbury, Western Australia. This is a full-time position based on-site, offering a strategic opportunity to play a crucial role in optimising maintenance operations and ensuring maximum equipment reliability and productivity.
As Maintenance
Planner, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive maintenance schedules, coordinating maintenance activities, and driving operational excellence across our equipment hire, mining and resources operations.
What you'll be doing
- Develop, schedule and optimise preventative and predictive maintenance programmes to minimise downtime and maximise equipment availability
- Plan and coordinate maintenance activities, allocating resources and sequencing work to ensure efficient execution
- Monitor equipment performance and maintenance metrics, analysing data to identify trends and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Liaise with operational teams to understand equipment requirements and maintenance priorities
- Prepare detailed maintenance schedules and work orders, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Track maintenance budgets and costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation, utilising maintenance management systems
- Collaborate with maintenance technicians and engineers to resolve maintenance issues and optimise processes
- Control and maintain compliance on registerable plant. Such as pressure vessels
- Support the implementation of new maintenance technologies and systems
What we're looking for
- Formal qualification in mechanical engineering, maintenance engineering or a relevant trade certificate, or equivalent practical experience in a maintenance planning or similar role
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in maintenance planning, scheduling or related roles within the mining, resources or heavy industrial sector
- Strong knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies and best practice standards
- Proficiency with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) and scheduling software
- Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make data-driven decisions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse teams across all levels
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation and record-keeping
- Understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements in mining and resource operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project)
- Preferred experience in mining-specific maintenance planning or exposure to heavy equipment maintenance
- Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent certification is advantageous
