What you'll do
As the Manager, Compliance and Improvement, you will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of systems and processes that support the effective operation of the Mental Health Act 2016 and associated legislation and policy. You will oversee the collection, analysis, and use of data and information to inform continuous improvement initiatives and legislative reform, while managing projects that support the Chief Psychiatrist in fulfilling statutory responsibilities, including mental health service investigations. In this role, you will exercise delegated administrative powers of the Chief Psychiatrist as required, oversee the preparation of high-quality correspondence, reports, Cabinet submissions, briefings, and discussion papers, and provide expert advice on complex and sensitive matters.
You will build and maintain productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, facilitate effective communication and collaboration, and represent the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist through participation in departmental and interagency forums. Additionally, you will contribute to the strategic and operational management of the Legislation Unit and the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist, while leading, developing, and supporting staff to build capability, achieve business priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
High level ability to effectively lead and manage a
Expert knowledge of the interpretation and requirements of relevant legislation and policy (e.g.
Mental Health
Act 2016, Human Rights Act 2019, Guardianship and Administration Act 2000) and its complex interrelationship with government, non-government and private sectors, or the ability to rapidly acquire such
Demonstrated ability and experience managing complex system-wide and/or state-wide projects that are time-critical and achieve expected deliverables focused on quality and safety improvement.
High level interpersonal and written communication skills including the ability to consult, negotiate and manage stakeholder relationships, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
