Fresh Department Managers Wanted

We’re looking for experienced, hands-on fresh food professionals to lead three key departments:

- Fruit & Veg Manager
- Deli Manager
- Meat Manager

This is an opportunity to take ownership of your department, build strong standards and help create fresh food departments that customers genuinely want to return to.

About the Roles

As a Department Manager, you’ll be responsible for the overall performance and day-to-day operation of your department, including:
- Leading, training and motivating your team.
- Ordering, stock control and maintaining strong availability.
- Delivering outstanding freshness, quality and presentation.
- Creating attractive, well-merchandised displays.
- Managing stock rotation, markdowns, shrinkage and waste.
- Monitoring department sales, margins, wages and overall performance.
- Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards.
- Understanding your customers and adjusting the range to suit local demand.
- Working closely with suppliers and identifying new products and opportunities.
- Providing knowledgeable, friendly and genuine customer service.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people who know their department and take genuine pride in running it well. Ideally, you will have:
- Strong experience in Fruit & Veg, Deli or Meat within supermarkets, fresh food retail or a similar environment.
- Previous department management, supervisory or senior fresh-food experience.
- Excellent product knowledge and an eye for quality and presentation.




- Strong stock management and merchandising skills.
- Commercial awareness around sales, GP, wages, shrinkage and waste.
- A hands-on attitude with confidence leading and developing a team.
- Reliability, organisation and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced setting.
- A genuine understanding that great fresh departments are built around quality, availability and knowing what local customers want.
