The roles sit within NSW Fair Trading in the Regulatory Education & Strategic Priorities Directorate, Strategy, Policy & Delivery Division
We are seeking a highly experienced program and strategy professional to drive NSW fair Trading’s strategy, priorities, reporting and lead program delivery and implementation of a number of key projects across the enterprise.
We’re looking for a brilliant leader to lead a talented and highly engaged team. You’ll need both a highly collaborative approach as we support and colleagues across the enterprise and the ability to ensure our people feel connected to our strategy and the important work underway to deliver to it.
Be Part of the Future of Fair Trading
At NSW Fair Trading, we’ve been on an exciting journey of transformation — reimagining how we deliver for the people and communities of NSW. Through our recent organisational realignment, we’ve built a current operating model designed to put customers at the centre of everything we do, strengthen our regulatory impact, and enable our people to thrive.
We’re creating a more modern, responsive and risk-based Fair Trading — one that understands the needs of people and businesses, embraces collaboration and innovation, and delivers better outcomes across the rental, strata, property and consumer markets we serve.
This next phase brings new and exciting opportunities to join us in shaping “the new way” — where you can help design smarter regulations, improve customer experiences, and make a real difference for the people of NSW.
If you’re someone who:
- Thinks deeply about the needs of people and communities,
- Is motivated by great outcomes, not just processes, and
- Wants to be part of an organisation that’s transforming how regulation works —
…then there’s a place for you in our future.
Join us as we build a Fair Trading that’s fit for the future — one that’s customer-centred, evidence-driven, and proudly focused on public value.
About the Role:
- Develop and embed strategic planning frameworks that align organisational priorities with regulatory objectives and support effective decision-making.
- Lead the development and implementation of the NSW Fair Trading Strategy.
- Lead and oversee the delivery of strategic programs and initiatives to achieve long-term organisational outcomes.
- Provide expert advice on program assurance, evaluation and risk management to strengthen organisational capability and address emerging challenges.
- Identify and drive opportunities for improvement in strategic planning and prioritisation through the use of data, research and stakeholder insights.
- Advise and influence senior executives on strategic opportunities, organisational performance and emerging risks.
- Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing team through effective work planning, resource management, coaching and professional development.
The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate:
- Exceptional strategic thinking and the ability to translate complex challenges into practical, achievable outcomes.
- Highly developed leadership skills, with a proven track record of building, motivating and developing high-performing teams.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and achieve consensus across diverse groups.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, supported by the ability to use data and insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills, resilience and adaptability, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and lead through change and transformation.
- Lead the development of the NSW Fair Trading Strategy
