Qualified Fitter – Local & Site Work

About the Role

First Grade Contract Maintenance (FGCM) is seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join our growing team for ongoing work across our Biloela workshop and Central Queensland mine sites.

This is not just short-term shutdown work. We have a strong pipeline of ongoing maintenance, project, breakdown and workshop work, with opportunities across multiple client sites.

Key Responsibilities

- Mechanical maintenance, repairs and equipment overhauls

- Fixed plant and CHPP maintenance

- Planned maintenance, breakdowns and shutdown work

- Pumps, gearboxes, bearings, couplings and drive systems

- Conveyor and materials handling equipment maintenance

- Equipment strip-down, inspection, repair and reassembly

- Fault finding and mechanical troubleshooting

- Component replacement, alignment and installation

- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical information

- Completing inspections and required QA documentation

- Working safely and effectively alongside other trades and site crews

About You

- Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter or Fitter & Turner

- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills

- Experience in mining, fixed plant, CHPP or heavy industry highly regarded

- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical information

- Robust commitment to safety and quality workmanship

- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a crew

- Current Australian driver's licence





- Willing and able to complete site medical and drug & alcohol requirements

Current Coal Board Medical, Standard 11, Working at Heights, Confined Space and mine-site inductions will be highly regarded, but are not essential for every position.
