Your Impact

As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll play a critical role in safely maintaining and repairing fixed plant equipment at Tanami, ensuring reliable operation of key mining infrastructure and supporting safe, efficient production outcomes across the site.

As Part of Our Team, You Will

- Maintain and repair fixed plant surface equipment, including crushers, conveyors, paste and batching plants, ventilation systems, dewatering infrastructure, Koepe friction winders, and double drum winders.
- Complete maintenance activities to a high standard while complying with site procedures, safety requirements, and Australian regulatory standards.
- Accurately record maintenance activities, job history, and labour hours to support planning, reporting, and asset performance management.
- Mentor and support apprentices, promoting skill development and safe work practices.
- Monitor equipment performance, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the maintenance team to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective outcomes that support production targets.

Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
- Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter with experience in fixed plant maintenance within a mining or heavy industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining crushers, conveyors, shaft infrastructure, Koepe winders, and double drum winders is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and maintenance best practices.
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably SAP.
- Current Working at Heights, Confined Space, Forklift, Dogging, and Non-Slewing Crane tickets.
- Valid Australian driver's licence.
- Strong planning, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a commitment to safe work practices.
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to work effectively in a remote operational environment.
- Ability to meet site requirements, including being clean shaven for respiratory protective equipment compliance.

Profile description:

Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region.

The Tanami

Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located on site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

This is a site-based role at Tanami Operations in the Northern Territory, working in a challenging remote environment. You will interface daily with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, HSE, and project stakeholders.

The role involves a FIFO schedule with 14/14 or 8/6 opportunities available. Approved departure locations for the point of hire are Darwin, Alice Springs, Perth, and Brisbane.
