About the role To organise appointments, answer incoming telephone calls, reception duties, maintain records and perform other tasks in order to ensure smooth and efficient running of front of house and to provide an exceptional standard of care to our patients in a welcoming and caring environment.

Key responsibilities

- Greet patients and visitors in a welcoming, friendly, courteous and professional manner

- Liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner

- Liaise with GPs, other health professionals and their staff

- Answer telephone promptly and politely and make telephone calls where required

- Make appointments for patients and medical staff

- Maintain patient and practice confidentiality at all times

- Manage incoming and outgoing mail and faxes and ensure distribution to the correct person

- Type documents as required with a high level of accuracy, including reports and referral letters





- Issue patient invoices and receipts following consultations and receipt payments

- Ensure reception and waiting areas are clean and tidy at all times

About you

- Basic knowledge of MS Word and Excel

- Completion of an accredited medical reception course or knowledge of medical terminology

- Minimum of one year's experience in medical receptionist or secretarial role

- Genuine patient orientated focus, showing empathy when required

- Excellent presentation, punctuality and positive attitude towards work

- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively within a team workplace

- Ability to prioritise and organise, with attention to detail
