Larvotto Resources (LVR) is developing the Hillgrove Antimony and Gold Project and is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Metallurgist to support our team and community in Armidale, NSW. Hillgrove is located 23km east of Armidale which is considered a well-serviced regional city surrounded by natural beauty. It is centrally located between Brisbane and Sydney and is only a short drive to the popular Coffs Coast.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, the Metallurgist will support the metallurgical performance of the Gold and Antimony Processing Plant.
The role will focus on daily plant monitoring, metallurgical accounting support, test work, and operational troubleshooting across all unit operations, including exposure to gold room operations. The position works closely with the Senior Metallurgist and Operations team to optimise recovery, product quality, and plant stability.
This permanent opportunity is on an 8 days on, 6 days off (8/6) Day shift roster.
This is a residential role, relocation assistance will also be provided to Armidale, NSW.
Key Responsibilities and experience will include:
- Ensure metallurgical activities comply with site safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor, analyse, and report daily metallurgical performance of the crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening, filtration, gravity, and gold room circuits.
- Assist with the review of daily plant results, including throughput, recovery, reagent consumption, and product quality.
- Support troubleshooting of metallurgical and process issues in collaboration with Operations and the Senior Metallurgist.
- Assist in implementing plant improvement initiatives and metallurgical test work programs.
- Reagent / Media consumption tracking.
- Assist in maintaining the site metallurgical accounting system and ensuring accurate data capture.
- Assist with monitoring tailings characteristics relevant to deposition, water recovery, and metallurgical performance.
- Collect and analyse tailings and water samples as required.
- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Mining, Geology, and Environment teams to support production targets.
- Actively develop technical and operational skills under the guidance of the Senior Metallurgist.
- Co-ordination with vendors on such things as Mill Liner Design, reagent optimisation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Metallurgical / Process / Chemical Engineering or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in a Metallurgist role within a minerals processing plant
- First Aid Certificate/CPR Qualification (highly desirable).
- Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights tickets (highly desirable)
- Positive software/computer skills, including Microsoft Office – Word/Excel and Database
- Exposure to Control System / SCADA and data transfer
- Proven experience with metallurgical accounting systems and plant reconciliation
- Experience in gold and antinomy processing (highly advantageous)
Other Requirements:
- Valid manual driver’s license (required).
- Unrestricted rights to work in Australia.
- Must be able to provide a valid National Police Clearance (NPC) – Less than 6months old
- Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening, and comply with ongoing testing during employment.
